                      NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION IN THE
                                 BURNSVILLE CITY LIMITS

A special election will be held in the City of Burnsville, North Carolina, on Tuesday April 06, 2010, on the following issues:

1. To permit the “on-premises” and “off-premises” sale of malt beverages.
2. To permit the “on-premises” and “off-premises” sale of unfortified wine.
3. To permit the operation of an ABC store.
4. To permit the sale of mixed beverages in hotels, restaurants, private clubs,
community theaters, and convention centers.

The polling site for this election will be the BURNSVILLE TOWN CENTER, at 6 South Main St. entrance nearest the yield sign. The polling site will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

All residents of the City of Burnsville who are registered to vote with the Yancey County Board of Elections are eligible to vote in this election. Voters who are already registered to vote need not re-register to vote in this special election. Residents of the city limits of Burnsville who are not registered to vote must register by Friday, March 12, 2010 before 5:00 p.m. to be eligible to vote in this election. Also, a voter who has moved since the last election must make that change with the Board of Elections by the same date. A person may register to vote at the Board of Elections office between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday, at 225 West Main Street, Burnsville.

Registration facilities and the polling site for this election are accessible to the elderly and handicapped. Curbside voting will be available to anyone who is not physically able to make it inside the polling place.

Any voter is entitled to assistance in casting votes by an appropriate person of his or her choice or by requesting assistance from an election official.

Persons with question about registration, location of the polling site, or other election matters may call the Yancey County Board of Elections Office at (828)682-3950 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday
