JAARS, Jungle Aviation and Radio Service, flies planes and helicopters on makeshift or short runways into the remotest areas of the world to not only deliver food and medical supplies to those in need but to also deliver the living food of Jesus Christ through Biblical translations. Bible Study at the Senior Centers *

Bible Study is held at the Mitchell Senior Center in Bakersville every Tuesday morning at 10:00am and at the Yancey Senior Center every Wednesday at 12:00pm.  For more information, for Mitchell call 688-3019, for Yancey call 678-3581.

Operation Christmas Child *

The Spruce Pine First Baptist Church at 125 Tappan Street will serve as a collection site for The Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child and will be collecting the shoe boxes November 16th through November 23rd from 8:00am-6:00pm.  Through Operation Christmas Child, the world's largest Christmas project, area residents are packing shoe box gifts for children in more than 100 countries suffering from natural disaster, war, terrorism, disease, famine and poverty.  From Spruce Pine the shoes box gifts will be sorted and sent to suffering children around the world.  These shoe boxes will be filled with such items as school supplies, toys, necessity items, hard candy and a letter of encouragement.  For step-by-step shoe box packing instructions or to register and track your shoe box and "follow your box" to the destination country go to www.samaritanspurse.org. Revival with Chris Rathbone *

Young's Chapel Baptist Church at Booneford will be in revival Thursday November 19th through Saturday November 21st at 7:00pm nightly.  The Guest Speaker will  be Chris Rathbone.  Pastor Lawrence Glenn and the congregation welcomes all to attend.

Unity Baptist Church will be in revival beginning Monday November 16th through Friday November 20th at 7:00pm nightly.  Preaching will be Bro. Rudy Smith.  Pastor Ricky Hensley and the congregation invites everyone to attend.

3rd Saturday Night Singing *

The Pigeon Roost Church of the Brethren will be having their 3rd Saturday Night Singing Saturday November 21st at 7:00pm.  Featured group will be The Tim Hughes Singers (he was the former leader of The Melody Trio), and others.  Pastor Keith Blankenship and congregation welcome all to attend.

Benefit Singing *

Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Spruce Pine will be having a Benefit Singing Sunday November 22nd at 6:00pm.  Featured groups will be Mt. Calvary Quartet, IV Grace, and others.  Proceeds will go to purchase Christmas for needy children.  Everyone is welcome.

Church Bake Sale

There will be a bake sale for The River Church Outreach on Monday November 23 through Wednesday November 25th from 9:00am-6:00pm at the church, located on 19E at East Yancey.  For more information call 682-5269.

Food Giveaway Now Only on Mondays

God's Hands Ministry of Crabtree Chapel Baptist Church now only operates on Mondays from 10:00am-2:00pm to give food to the needy. You'll find the church on Crabtree Road near the Mitchell-Yancey County line.

Food - Friends - Fun - Free

Everyone is invited to the Higgins Methodist Church family life center from 5 to 6:00pm each Monday for a time of Free Food with Friends. For more information call 682-2835.

Soup Kitchen

The Soup Kitchen is at The Burnsville Seventh Day Adventist Church across from the entrance to Mountain Heritage High School on 19-E every Tuesday from 5-6:30pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

2010 Martin Luther King Commemoration Choir to Meet

The 2010 Martin Luther King Commemoration Choir will meet on Tuesday November 24th at 7:00pm at Griffith Chapel Church in Burnsville, NC. Any & all singers & musicians are welcome to join in this event. The date of the 2010 Martin Luther King Commemoration celebration will be on January 24, 2010 at 3:00pm at Griffith Chapel Church.

7th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner

The 7th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 26th, from 11:00am-2:00pm in the Family Life Center at Higgins Memorial United Methodist Church.  If you or your family don't have plans, the church invites you to join them.  No reservations are necessary and there is no charge for the meal.  They will also have a coat closet with coats, gloves, hats, scarves, and blankets.  For more information or for transportation call 682-2093, 682-2835 or 675-9592.  Shut-in service available.

The Primitive Quartet to Sing at Pine Branch Baptist Church *

Special Service to View "The Passion of The Christ"

Youngs Chapel Freewill Baptist Church at Windom will be having a special service on Saturday night November 28th at 6:00pm.  The movie, "The Passion of the Christ" will be shown.  Pastor Roger Thompson and the congregation invites everyone to attend.

Benefit Singing for Josh Fannon *

A Benefit Singing will be held for Josh Fannon Sunday November 29th at 2:00pm at Tipton Hill School.  Singers at the event will include: The Benny Silver Family, The Laws Family, and the Union Hill FWB Church Choir.  Proceeds will be used to (1) Pave or Concrete the Driveway and (2) Place a Covering over the Ramp.

5th Sunday Night Singing *

Ridgeview Church at Red Hill will have their 5th Sunday Night Singing Sunday November 29th at 6:00pm featuring The Mine Creek Choir and others.  Everyone is welcome.

Food Ministry

Paint Gap Baptist Church in Madison County is doing a food ministry for the needy on the first and third weeks of the month, unless there is an emergency.  The only requirement is that you or someone your know needs food.  Please call  689-4841 or 206-4841 for a pickup time.  If you or someone you know needs food right away, please call and you will be accommodated.  Residents of all counties are welcome.

11th Annual West Burnsville Christmas Pageant

West Burnsville Baptist Church invites you to the Eleventh Annual West Burnsville Christmas Pageant, "Hallelujah, Christ is Born", which brings to life the birth, ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection of Christ through drama and music. Performances are December 4, 5, and 6 at 7 PM and December 6 at 3 PM. Guest musicians will present Christmas music beginning 30 minutes before each performance. Living Christmas Tree *

Grassy Creek Baptist Church will present the Living Christmas Tree on Dec. 11th, 12th, and 13th. Performance times are Friday and Saturday nights at 7:00 and on Sunday, the 13th at 11:00am and 7:00pm. Pastor Matthew Mills invites everyone to join us for this beautiful time of worship as we celebrate Jesus' birthday. Madison County Christmas Pageant

The Madison County Christmas Pageant will be held on Friday December 4th and Saturday December 5th on the Madison County Courthouse lawn in Downtown Marshall.  The pageant is held each night beginning at 7:30pm as the streets of Marshall are transformed into Bethlehem through costumed townspeople, songs of the season, and narration.  There is no cost, however, donations are appreciated.  Come and share in this live presentation of the Nativity as Marshall celebrates the miracle of the birth of Jesus Christ.
